The Robert Koch-Institut (RKI) in Berlin announced there are to two heroin users got infected with Anthrax (Bacillus anthracis). One of them already died on 5.6.2012 in Regensburg. The second case received medical help on 18.6. because of inflammatory infection. Bacillus anthracis was found and reported two days later. Officials beliefs the source of infection is contaminated heroine which was applied i.V. The Announcement based on information by the Bavarian Office of Health and Food Safety (Bayerische Landesamt für Gesundheit und Lebensmittelsicherheit, LGL).

There has been several cases of anthrax in 2009/2010 in Germany and United Kingdoms. According to the German Armed Forces institute for microbiology the bacterias found in Bavaria is similar to the ones found in 2009/2010. LGL and RKI gave out warnings for whole Germany. RKI informed the European level by the Early Warning and Response System (EWRS) and a international note.

Even there is no risk for the public, one should recognize the fact if the substance consumed by this users where found on a public people, not only yellow press will report a biological weapon attack against Germany.
